Where Productions Break Down
Most production challenges are not creative. They are operational.
Problems typically appear as disorganized pre-production that creates chaos later, unclear ownership across departments, schedule drift that only becomes visible in post-production, and knowledge that disappears between projects. Teams often end up rebuilding systems from scratch for every production, increasing stress and risk even when the creative work is strong.
If these issues sound familiar, this work is designed to address them directly.
Our Role
Our role is to support production leadership by designing the operational layer that allows teams to execute with clarity.
We design production operations systems, define workflows and handoffs across departments, configure and support work management tools, and reduce delivery and schedule risk.
At the same time, we are explicit about what we do not do. We do not make creative decisions, replace producers or line producers, own budgets, manage payroll, or direct or edit.
This boundary is intentional and foundational to how we work.
How We Work
We use a structured framework called the AI Film Production Chain.
This framework applies AI to film production operations only, including planning, coordination, and documentation. All creative authority remains human.
The framework is tool flexible and scales based on production needs. For independent and short-term productions we typically work in Asana. For enterprise and studio environments we work in Adobe Workfront. The operational model remains consistent regardless of tooling.
Engagements
Production Operations Assessments provide a focused review of a single production or studio workflow. These engagements surface operational friction, identify risk, and result in clear, practical recommendations.
Production Operations Implementations involve hands-on setup of production systems for an active project or phase. This includes workflow design, standards, reporting, and team onboarding.
Embedded Operations Support offers short-term advisory support during critical moments such as pre-production ramp-up, post-production coordination, or delivery cleanup. All support is time-bound and operationally focused.
Each engagement is scoped to a specific production, phase, or timeline.
Who This Is For
This work is a strong fit for teams producing multiple projects per year who feel operational strain as work scales. It is designed for studios and production teams that want repeatability without bureaucracy and need credibility with funders, partners, or collaborators.
This service is not intended for first-time, unfunded productions.
Why Ragged Films
Ragged Films combines hands-on production experience with deep operations expertise. We design systems that reflect how films are actually made rather than how software assumes they should be made.
Our goal is simple. Make each production easier than the last.
